Officials said on Wednesday that Isal, October 1 (IANS) Assam Rifles seized drugs worth Rs 20.61 crore in Mizoram.
A defense spokesperson said that based on reliable intelligence on smuggling of contrast drugs, Assam Rifles started a search operation in Khawzaval regions of Mizoram, border of Myanmar on Tuesday night.
During the operation of the operation, the soldiers saw a suspect to carry a consignment. Seeing the presence of security forces, the person left the package in the forest and ran away.
On the intensive discovery of the region, the soldiers recovered 6.87 kg Menthafetamine tablets, which cost around Rs 20.61 crore in the international market.
The seized narcotics were handed over to the Mizoram police for further investigation and follow -up action. This operation once again highlighted the tireless commitment of Assam Rifles in combating drug smuggling.
Excessive addictive, restricted Menthafetamine pills are also known as Yaba, party pills or Y (the world is yours).
Assam Rifles officials said that drugs were smuggled from Myanmar and intention was made in India or other parts abroad.
Myanmar, which shares the boundary of 1,643 km with four northeastern states – Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, and Mizoram – acts as a major transit point for drugs, especially heroin and Mathamfetamine Tablet, India enters India.
Myanmar’s border which is Mizoram district Champai, Siaha, Longlai, Hanthial, Satual and Cereship. A defense spokesperson said that, working on reliable intelligence, the soldiers rapidly stopped a major consignment, which failed to take advantage of the attempt of Durga Puja festive atmosphere for smuggling the Mentalfetamine Tablet by drug pedals.
