Officials said that Jammu, October 1 (IANS) is a search campaign by Joint Security Forces on Wednesday after reporting suspicious agitation in the border area in Kathua district of J&K.
Officials said that after receiving information about the suspected agitation in Rajbagh area of the district, security forces started the search operation.
“The search operation was jointly launched by the police and the Border Security Force (BSF) in the area near the Ujah River, located close to the international border. Locals reported the movement of three suspected persons, carrying a heavy backpack, and accordingly, joint search parties were completely combing.”
“Search parties have not yet come to any suspect, but footprints have confirmed the movement of some individuals,” the official said.
Operation continues in the area.
Jhathana village is located close to the international border, and in the past, there are examples when the terrorists crossed the international border and began to host citizens for food and shelter.
Security forces have kept a close watch on the areas close to the international border to ensure that if the terrorists are successful in crossing the border, they are engaged in an encounter on civilians and security forces to thwart any attack by them.
The 240 km long international border of J&K is located in Jammu, Samba and Katua districts and is preserved by BSF. In addition, J&K has 740 km long control (LoC) in Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora districts and parts of Jammu district in Poonch, Rajouri districts and in Poonch, Rajouri districts and in Poonch, Rajouri and Jammu Division, and is preserved by the army.
The Army and BSF have been deployed to infiltrate, weapon movement/ammunition, cash and medicines.
As terrorists, with the support of Pakistan, using drones to release payload on the Indian side, BSF has deployed special anti-drain devices along the international border.
