Bareilly, 1 October (IANS) Bareilly SP Manush Perek on Wednesday revealed the details about the recent violence in the district after the ‘I Love Muhammad’ campaign, which increased in violent clashes, revealing that Namaz Timings are usually separated, the days of the incident (26 September), they were almost equal.
Talking to IANS, Pareek said: “On 26th, after Friday, an incident of unrest took place, during which 10 cases were registered. So far, 81 people have been arrested and sent to jail. All three were shot in the leg. The more suspects are being identified through CCCTV footage and various videos.
“An important detail that has come to light is that Namaz timing, which usually separate at different places, were similar on September 26,” the SP said.
In response to unrest after the incident of ‘I Love Muhammad’, the City Police also conducted a flag march to maintain law and order.
Earlier in the day, Bareilly Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anurag Arya announced that two more accused were arrested in the violence during an encounter. He assured that all those involved in the violence will be brought into justice and investigation is on.
“The two accused have been arrested during the encounter and sent for medical treatment. They are named Idris and Iqbal. Idris has about 20 cases against them, including theft and robbery, while Iqbal has 17 similar cases. During the operation, during the operation, we recovered an anti-red gun, an anti-red gun, and live versatilies.”
On September 26, Bareilly riots took place after Friday’s prayers, when a large group of people took to the streets on the streets and raised slogans reading “I Love Muhammad” while reading the poster. The crowd was hitting Islamia Ground and Khalil School Chowk.
The police asked to disperse the mob, when they began chanting “Nara-e-Takbir”, but the protesters did not comply with. The tension increased, and the crowd became uncontrolled. Some individuals reportedly started stoning the police, indicating a baton charge by the authorities.
The baton charge caused a stampede -like situation, causing chaos in the surrounding area. During unrest, the rioters vandalized at least two motorcycles and targeted a local shop. After the intervention of the police, the mob eventually dispersed the crowd, scattered slippers, shoes and stones scattered within a 200 meter radius near Khalil Tiraha.
On 27 September, Tauqir Raza, a local cleric and head of ITTEHAD-E-Millat Council, were arrested. His support for the ‘I Love Muhammad’ campaign created unrest in Bareilly. Officials said that after a video gathered outside his residence, he supported the campaign, went viral. The assembly was swollen, increasing the concerns of further disturbances in the region.
Tauqir Raza has been sent to 14 days judicial custody as the officials continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent further provisions.
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) condemned the arrest after the Bareilly unrest of Maulana Tauqir Raza Khan and others. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the board demanded its immediate release and criticized the Uttar Pradesh government to deal with the situation.
