BJP wants inequality in society; Survey required: CM Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru: Defending the caste census in the state, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that there is inequality in the society, and survey data is necessary to eliminate it. He said which communities face illiteracy, poverty, land shortage and other losses, it is necessary.

He spoke to the media in Bangalore on Wednesday, after Congress chief Mallikrajun Kharge, who is undergoing treatment at Ms. Ramaiya Hospital in Bengaluru.

Heavy Industries and Steel’s HD Kumaraswamy remarks, reacting to the Union Minister that a caste survey could not bring social upliftment, Siddaramaiah said that the survey was social, economic and educational in nature, and Babasaheb Ambedkar said that to eliminate inequality, the deprived society should come in the mainstream.

Talking about heavy floods in the northern Karnataka region, CM Siddaramaiah said, “Compared to other districts of the state, about 95 percent of the floods in the North Karnataka region have flooded. Floods have affected Belgavi, Vijaypura, Bagalkot, Bidar, Yadgur, Habbali, Habbil.

Focusing on the statement of Union Minister Kumaraswamy that flood relief would be provided by the central government, CM Siddaramaiah welcomed the statement. “However, when the state experienced drought in 2023, the central government did not provide relief, and had to contact the Supreme Court to get assistance to the state. Now, if Kumaraswamy provides relief, the proposal will be submitted by the state government.”

CM Siddaramaiah on Tuesday conducted an aerial survey of four flood affected districts in the North Karnataka region.

After visiting Kharge in the hospital, CM Siddaramaiah said that Kharge’s health status was good.

Siddaramaiah also greeted Dashera for the people of the state and said that he will participate in the Dasra Festival events to be held in Masuru on Thursday.
