New Delhi, October 1 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted former President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday, who appreciates his commitment to his service and public welfare towards the nation.
Kovind was born on 1 October 1945, in a mountain of Uttar Pradesh.
Expanding the greeting, PM Modi posted on X, “Heartfelt greetings to former President Shri Ram Nath Kovind ji on his birthday. His commitment to his distinguished service and public welfare for our nation has given him great respect. His intellect and guidance on various issues are valuable. May he be blessed with good health and long life.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also took on social media and wished the former President a happy birthday.
“Best wishes to former President, Ram Nath Kovind, a hearty birthday. Your personality, constitutional duties, devotion to simplicity and integrity, inspires many social workers. I pray to God for your excellent health and long life,” Shah posted on X.
Minister of External Affairs (EAM) S. Jaishankar also wished Kovind, “Happy birthday to former President of India, Ram Nath Kovind. I wish him out of excellent health and a long life.”
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also took for X and posted, “Happy birthday to former President Ram Nath Kovind! May Lord Rama bless you with a long, luxurious life and excellent health.”
Kovind was sworn in as the 14th President of India on 25 July 2017. He is the first person from Uttar Pradesh and the first member of the BJP to hold the office.
During his five -year tenure, he addressed the Parliament of India five times a total of five times. The first address was on the swearing in, followed by four additional addresses sitting joints of both houses from 2018 to 2021.
During his tenure, Kovind administered the oath of office to three chief justice of the Supreme Court and 29 other judges. He was successful by Draupadi Murmu on 21 July 2022.
