President Murmu presents special honors to his bodyguard

New Delhi, 30 September (IANS) President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday, presented the Diamond Jubilee Silver Trump and Trumpat banner to the President’s bodyguard (PBG) at a function held in the national capital in the national capital, which has been since the glorious service of 75 years of the post as PBG in 1950.

In his brief comment at the ceremony, President Murmu said that the country is proud of PBG.

The statement said that he congratulated the PBG for his professional excellence and following the best military traditions.

He expressed confidence that all bodyguards would have to know that this honor is an important responsibility with it.

The Charger of the Commandant ‘Virat’, who retired in 2022, was also present on the occasion.

PBG has adopted Virat after his retirement, which is a unique symbol of bondage between PBG and his horses personnel.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi patted the horse on 26 January 2022 in the Republic Day Parade.

The President’s bodyguard is the oldest regiment in the Indian Army, raised in 1773 as the bodyguard of the Governor-General (later the bodyguard of the Viceroy).

On January 27, 1950, the name of the Regiment was changed to the President’s bodyguard.

The first President of India, Rajendra Prasad, presented his silver trumpet and trumpet banner to the President’s bodyguard on 14 May 1957.

PBG is the only regiment that is allowed two ‘standards’, ie the President’s body guard standard and PBG’s regimental standard.

PBG, as is known today, was raised by the then Governor-General, Warren Hastings in Banaras (Varanasi). It had an initial strength of 50 cavalry trupers, later improvised by another 50 horsemen.

Today, PBG has a selected body of men selected by hand with special physical characteristics. They are chosen after a rigorous procedure.

Climbing the horses of the imperfect war, wearing in traditional formal dress, the President’s Body Guard continues to be the timeless, traditional, warrior ethos of Indian gross, while it originally combines it with the modern professionalism of the Indian Army.

Since 1947, PBG has served a Governor General and 15 Presidents of India.

PBG is a unique military unit, woven in the history of our nation’s history, Rashtrapati Bhavan to include the life and time of each President and Indian Army.
