Bengaluru, 30 September (IANS) Home Minister of Karnataka. Parmeshwar said on Tuesday that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the alleged Dharmasthala murder case has been directed to conclude soon.
“Every day, petitions are being filed in the case. It cannot go indefinitely,” he said.
Talking to reporters in Bengaluru, God was asked about the delay in arresting the accused in the alleged Dharmasthala murder case.
The state Home Minister remarked, “I don’t know about legal obstacles and I have not discussed them. SIT investigation is progressing. They are waiting for the results of various reports. The latest samples have also been sent to laboratories, and their results are expected soon.”
He said, “We have asked the SIT to complete the rapid investigation. Every day petitions are being filed in the case, and it has been decided that it should end,” he said.
When asked about the arrest of activist Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi, Parameshwar said, “We have to work within the legal structure. External orders have been issued against him, and they have challenged them in the court. We should wait for the court verdict. We should wait for the court’s decision. No arrest or legal action is needed against them. To reach a conclusion.
Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi has been at the forefront of protests against temple officials in the alleged Dharmasthala murder case.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday gave an interim migration against activist Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi on an external order.
The hearing in the case has been postponed on 8 October.
While issuing an interim migration on the external order, the High Court has also given notice to the respondents.
The court directed that notices be issued.
Thimarodi had filed a petition before the Karnataka High Court, demanding the cancellation of the external order.
Justice CM Pooncha, while leading the single-judge bench, heard the petition and passed the interim order.
Thimarodi nominated the Government of Karnataka, Putur Assistant Commissioner, Bantwal Deputy Superintendent of Police, and Beltangdi Inspector as respondents in the case.
The worker had demanded an immediate interim migration on external order and its cancellation.
On 18 September, Putur Assistant Commissioner Stela Varghese has been ordered to the outskirts of Thimarodi for Raichur.
The order states that Thimarodi was to be outsider for one year, from September 18, 2025 to 17 September, 2026.
On Tuesday, the Public Prosecutor filed objections to the Principal District and Sessions Judge in Mangaluru in connection with Thimarodi’s petition, demanding anticipatory bail in the arms case.
The SIT team investigating the Dharmasthala case found arms without a license at Thimarodi’s residence during search and raid operations.
Advocate Dinesh Hegde Ulepdi said that the case was filed without any prima face proof under the provisions of weapons.
Following the argument of Thimarodi’s lawyer, the Public Prosecutor sought adjournment for logic/answer.
Accordingly, the matter was postponed on October 4 for the logic of the government side.
