Major bureaucracy reshuffle in Chhattisgarh; 14 IAS officers transferred

Raipur, 30 September (IANS) In an important administrative overhaul, Chhattisgarh government on Tuesday issued transfer orders for 14 Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officers, soon after the appointment of IAS Vikas Sheel as the new Chief Secretary of the state.

The reshuffle reflects a strategic reorganization of major departments and leadership roles in the bureaucracy of the state. The 1994 batch IAS officer, Vikas Sheel, took charge as the 13th Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh at the Mahanadi Bhavan, who was successful to Amitabh Jain, who retired on 30 September.

Sheel first served as Executive Director at the Asian Development Bank in Manila and has played an important role in both the state and the central governments. His previous assignments include collector of Korea, Bilaspur and Raipur and secretaries of departments like school education, food and civil supply, general administration and health.

Since 2018, he was on central deputation, serving as Mission Director of Water Life Mission and in the Ministry of Water Power.

In major changes, senior IAS officers Renu Pillai and Subrata Sahu have been relieved from their secretary duties. Pillai has been appointed as the chairman of Vyapam and has been given additional charge of Board of Secondary Education.

Sahu, now retired, has been named as Temporary Director General of Chhattisgarh Academy of Administration and Chairman of Revenue Board.

Dr. Rohit Yadav has been assigned several responsibilities, including Secretary, Department of Energy, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited, Chairman of CSPDCL and Secretary of Tourism, Culture and Public Relations Departments.

Mukesh Bansal has been given additional charge of aviation, while Public Relations Commissioner Dr. Ravi Mittal has been appointed as director of aviation.

IAS officer Jitender has been posted as the new collector of Rajnandgaon district. Sonmani Bora took over as Principal Secretary of Tribal Development, Scheduled Caste Development, Backward Classes and Minority Development Departments with additional responsibility for science and technology.

Avinash Champawat has been appointed as Secretary of the General Administration Department and has been given additional charge of Public Grievance Redressal Department. He will also take additional responsibility for religious trusts and settlement departments.

Lokesh Kumar, Deputy Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, has been assigned to the Labor Department allegations. Similarly, Pere Abhijeet Baban, who is an additional collector of the fort, has now been shifted to accuse as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), while Farha Allam (2016 batch) has been entrusted with the additional responsibility of the school department as Joint Secretary.

Apart from this, Bhuvanesh Yadav (2006) has been given additional responsibility for Secretary Plan, Economic and Statistical Department and Twenty-Bindu Program Implementation. Similarly, Kuldeep Sharma (2014 batch) has been paid an additional fee as Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Warehousing Corporation.
