Mumbai, September 30 (IANS) Maharashtra Cabinet approved an increase of 9.90 money per unit in additional tax on electricity sale on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis (additional time of supply/servicing equipment) to recovered from industrial and commercial consumers of private power distribution companies.
The state cabinet has extended an additional time increase in additional time of supply/servicing equipment per unit to 20.94 money per unit per unit.
The mobilization of money through growth will be used to fund Prime Minister Kusum Charan-B Yojana.
The government statement said that the Prime Minister will enable farmers to irrigate during the day by providing adequate electricity to agricultural pumps in the state of Kusum Ghatak-B Yojana.
The statement said that the government has proposed to install a total of 6.50 lakh solar agricultural pumps in the state.
So far, more than 4.23 lakh solar agricultural pumps have been installed in the state.
The state government needs Rs 3,591.38 crore to set up the remaining 2.27 lakh solar agricultural pumps by March 2026.
The state government is expected to increase by Rs 147 crore per month and Rs 1,764 crore annually after an additional time of supply/servicing equipment.
To ensure the availability of funds required for effective implementation of this scheme, it has been decided to increase the rate of additional electricity sales tax on units sold by companies.
According to the government statement, the Prime Minister Kusum Ghatak-B scheme in Maharashtra is part of the National PM-Kusum Yojana, which aims to support farmers in installing standalone solar agricultural pumps to replace diesel pumps in off-grid areas.
Under this scheme, farmers receive financial assistance for pump installation, in which the state government provides an important part of the cost in the form of a subsidy and loan, making solar irrigation more accessible and promotes renewable energy.
Under this scheme, the central government provides 30 percent subsidy on the benchmark cost of the pump and a loan of up to 30 percent of the project cost is also available.
Financial assistance is provided for pumps up to 7.5 horsepower, although high -capacity pumps can be installed with a farmer covering additional costs.
