Last voter list of Bihar: 7.42 crore total voters, deletion of 47 lakh names (LD)

New Delhi, September 30 (IANS) Election Commission (ECI) on Tuesday announced the successful completion of the Special Intensive Amendment (SIR) of the election role in Bihar, concluding the publication of the final list, which now includes 7.42 crore contestants.

Amendment exercises conducted from 24 June to 30 September, 2025, 65 lakh names were removed from the first draft role, while the total voters were 7.89 crores (24 June 2025).

As a draft list of August 1, 2025, the total voters were 7.24 crores, where 21.53 new voters were added to the draft under Form -6 in the list, while 3.66 lakh disqualified voters were removed from the final list.

With the release of the final role on 30 September, the total voters were 7.42 crores.

“This massive practice was made successful through honest efforts of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Bihar, District Election Officers (DEO) of all 38 districts, 243 Election Registration Officer (EROS), 2,976 Assistant Election Registration Officers (EROS), about 1 lakh booth level officials (Blaos), with millions, lakhs. “The Election Commission said in its press note on Tuesday.

Pol-Penal also said, “If a eligible person still wants to apply to include his name in the electoral roll, they can submit an application till ten days before the last date to file nomination for the election.”

In particular, the appeal against electoral roll decisions can be filed under Section 24 of the Representation of the People’s Act, 1950, first with the District Magistrate and then with the CEO.

The Commission also credited the media to play an important role in spreading awareness and ensuring transparency in the amendment process.
