Chennai, 30 September (IANS) Congress General Secretary (Organization) KC Venugopal on Tuesday, visited Karur to comfort the bereaved families of those killed in a stampede at a rally of actor-royalty Vijay.
He said, “The families who have lost their loved ones are inconsistent. There is pain across Tamil Nadu and India. We are here to tell the victims that they are not alone; the whole country is standing with them,” he said.

Forty-one people, including women and children, were killed, and more than 60 were injured when thousands of people, who were nervous and crowded, were struggling for space to see Vijay.

He established a one-person Judicial Commission under retired judge Arun Jagadisin, which led to a tragedy.
Stalin later said, “We will ensure that such a frightening incident is repeated anytime.”
Opposition leader and AIADMK General Secretary Edappi. Palaniswami called the incident a “darker” and criticized the government for failing to implement enough crowd control.
He demanded fair and fast investigation and better security arrangements for future political ceremonies.
From BJP -led NDA, MP and actor Hema Malini visited Karur, which included Anurag Thakur and Rekha Sharma. He said that the journey is “to share sorrow and understand what went wrong.”
“If a large and safe site was provided, it could be avoided,” he commented. TVK founder Vijay, blind shaking, released a video message, saying that he has never faced such pain in his life.
He said, “I did not immediately visit Karur because my presence could create an unusual situation. I will soon meet the families,” he said that he was ready to face any action and wanted the truth to come out.
Karur Stamped has triggers immediate calls in political spectrum for strict security criteria and has better coordinated between organizers and officials to prevent such a disaster.
