Kang government ‘snatching’ land in Karnataka from poor farmers: Union Minister Kumaraswamy

New Delhi/Bangalore, 30 September (IANS) Union Heavy Industries Minister and Steel HD Kumaraswamy on Tuesday accused the Congress -led Karnataka government of snatching the land of poor farmers.

Addressing a press conference at his residence in New Delhi, Kumaraswamy said: “We know what all illegal activities are happening under the banner of Bidadi Township Project in Karnataka.”

Stating that in 2006, he proposed to construct five townships, one of which Bidadi was with, he said, “I held four public meetings with the farmers, even discussed. Even most of the people were women farmers. I did not acquire a single inch land.”

Booting the Siddaramaiah government, he said: “They claim to implement my dream project. But now, they are handing over a person more than 500 acres, 200 acres to another, and 300 to someone else – just distributing land to your favorite. They don’t forget – it is a public land that you have earned or earned.”

He said, “I had planned to implement the project at a cost of Rs 60,000 crore. I also received approval from the Central Government’s Economic Affairs Committee. But after my government fell, the project was given shelter. Still, I never took any land,” he insisted.

Union Minister Kumaraswamy said, “Deputy CM DK Shivkumar swears and says how many people have destroyed their homes.”

He said, “He manipulated the original ‘Naija Society’ from Vijaypura to a botanical society and made the fake real. In another case, he created fake members to grab the land in the name of a society. I have all these documents and evidence of these frauds,” he claimed.
