New Delhi, September 30 (IANS) Delhi High Court has abolished an FIR against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) media coordinator Vikas Kumar Yogi after an unconditional apologizing to a journalist out of a change in May 2024.
A single judge bench of Justice Amit Mahajan directed the AAP worker to deposit Rs 25,000 with the funds of Delhi Police martyrs as cost.
A petition filed by Justice Mahajan Yogi was demanding dismissal of the FIR registered at IP Estate Police Station, which was based on a complaint based on a complaint by a senior reporter under Section 323, 341, 506, 509, 427, 149, and 34 of the IPC, based on a complaint based on a complaint by a senior reporter, which had visited the AAP office to cover a story on alleged foreign fanding.
According to the FIR, Yogi allegedly faced a journalist and, on his example, 8 to 10 party employees tried to snatch the camera, surrounded the complainant and his cameraperson, and pushed them towards the gate, raising the derogatory slogans.
However, the Delhi High Court was informed that in June 2025, the parties had solved their dispute through a disposal deed without any pressure, force or unfair impact.
“The petitioner stated that he had apologized unconditionally for his behavior. He also serves not to involve any such activity in the future,” the order was registered.
The journalist also accepted apology and informed the Delhi High Court that he had no other complaints.
“Asked, defendant No. 2 states that she has no complaint against the petitioner and is satisfied with forgiveness. She says that she does not wish to pursue any action arising out of the current FIR and there is no objection and if she is left in her entirety,” the order said.
Rejecting the FIR, Justice Mahajan noticed that continuing the matter would not be a purpose, saying: “Keeping the dispute alive and continuing the continuation of the proceedings would not be a useful objective, the amount to misuse the court process.”
However, Justice Mahajan paid the cost, focusing on the fact that the police machinery was installed at speed.
The Delhi High Court said, “If the petitioner is costing, the service is served at the end of the justice,” Yogi directed to deposit Rs 25,000 with the funds of the Delhi Police martyrs within eight weeks and gave evidence to the concerned SHO.
