TTC Fire on Bore-Yage Halts Line 2 Subway Service

A small fire on a TTC work car on Tuesday morning He led to a temporary shutdown of the metro service through Toronto’s busiest interchange, resulting in a major commutary delay during the morning crowd.

According to TTC CEO Mandeep Lali, the incident started around 5:30 am on Line 2 Bloor-Danforth near Bloor-Yz Interchange, when smoke and flames on a maintenance vehicle were reported.

As a precaution, TTC bypassed Broadview on Line 2 and Bell-Yoj station between St. George stations and on Line 1.

The Toronto Fire Crew quickly responded and worked with TTC employees and worked to extinguish the fire and secure the area. There was no injury.

By 7:15 am, TTC confirmed that the full service had resumed on both affected lines; However, the riders reported long waiting for shuttle buses and crowds at nearby stations.

CEO TTC apologizes for delay

In a statement posted to social mediaLali apologized to the riders for disintegration, accepting the “large -scale inconvenience” in the city’s busiest transit hub.

“At around 5:30 am today, one of our work cars on Line 2 near Bloor-Yajn Interchange caught fire.

“While we don’t know what is the reason for this malfunction at this level, I have asked the team to get me full and detailed explanation as soon as we can try to stop it from reworning.”

Lali said that TTC had already presented a comprehensive inspection program for its work car fleet after a series of mechanical issues in recent years. In the light of Tuesday’s fire, he has requested further review of that program.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. TTC says it will release more details after its internal review is completed.
