Odisha wishes people on CM Durga Puja, for harmony and peaceful ceremony

Bhubaneswar, September 29 (IANS) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi greeted the people of Odisha on the occasion of Durga Puja on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Odisha Police has made adequate security arrangements for the smooth conduct of Sharadia Durga Puja Festival this year in various districts of the state, including twin cities – Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

Informing media persons, Police Commissioner K Dev Dutta Singh said on Monday that a total of 193 small and big pandals have been established in Bhubaneswar this year, with 24 where the idols are decorated with expensive gold and silver jewelery.

Singh said that security focus would be on congestion regulation and traffic control. For this, static guards and mobile units including 13 strikes and mobile parties have been deployed. The commissioner said that surveillance will be ensured through a combination of manual, semi-system and electronic systems. The drone will be used to monitor the movement of the crowd and ensure adequate exit points.

In case of congestion, public address system announcements will guide devotees to other pandals and safe areas. He said that this system will remain in force for the next three days, after which there will be two more days of vigilance during the idol immersion.

During immersion, while Pandal security will be reduced, traffic variations and smooth vehicle movement will be important focus.

To ensure the smooth conduct of Durga Puja, the Commission Police has deployed a bomb detection and disposal squad with equipment, a special strategic unit (STU), a special strategic unit (STU) of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), and a bomb detection squad with equipment in Bhuvaneshwar.
