Bengal: A video of police misusing BJP workers at party stall goes viral

Kolkata, September 29 (IANS) A video has gone viral in West Bengal, where two policemen were seen abusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in a party stall established to broadcast party literature and distribute clothes as Durga Puja gifts to local women.

The incident occurred in Rabindranagar, a minority-dominated Metiabruz Assembly constituency in South 24 Parganas district, and identified policemen Rabindranagar Police Station, Sujan Kumar Roy and Deputy Inspector of the same police station, Inspector-in-Fore, Ske Kabir.

Leader of the opposition (LOP) and senior BJP leader, Suvendu Adikari shared the video on his official X account and claimed that it was the new culture of West Bengal, especially in Diamond Harbor Lok Sabha constituency, whose jurisdiction, under which Rabindranagar Police Station and Metiabroz Assembly Constuinki come under jurisdiction.

Incidentally, the Lok Sabha member of Diamond Harbor is Trinmool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee.

In his official X post, Lop Edhikari claimed that when BJP workers and activists in Metiabruz set up a small book stall during Durga Puja, and from that stall, some new clothes were being handed over to women, because Puja came as a gift, as Roy and Kabir came and made Rukas to fail the program.

Lop Adhikari accused Roy of abusing BJP workers at the book stall and said: “You have to play Hindu-Muslim here. We will take it all our rent!”

He said, “We strongly condemn the incident. No matter what Mamata Banerjee tries to obstruct BJP’s service activities through police, you will not succeed. We stopped you in Nandigram; this time we will stop you in West Bengal.”
