Tumkuru (Karnataka), 29 September (IANS) Home Minister of Karnataka. Parmeshwar said on Monday that the much more awaited Tumkuru metro project is going to be completed soon.
The city of Tumkuru is located 70 km from Bangalore.
Speaking to reporters, Parmeshwar said, “In the state budget of 2024-25, the Chief Minister announced a feasibility study to expand the metro railway line from Madwara to Tamkuru. The work of conducting the study was assigned to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).
He said, “BMRCL invited tenders at a cost of Rs 3 crore and submitted a feasibility study to a Hyderabad -based company. The company has now submitted its report to the government,” he said.
The state government has approved the report and directed BMRCL to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the minister said.
“In the first phase, the project is estimated at a cost of Rs 20,649 crore, and many private companies have already expressed interest,” he said.
“The state government has already issued an order on 25 September, to direct BMRCL to direct BMRCL to BMRCL under PPP mode to prepare a DPR to prepare a DPR to prepare a DPR to apply a 59.6 km metro railway system from Madwara to Tumkuru, at a cost of Rs 3 crore, with a cost of Rs 3 crore,”
He said, “The social, economic and educational survey known as caste census in the district is moving fast, and we are second in the state.”
Speaking at a press conference held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Monday, Parmeshwar said that as per the order of the State Government, the welfare department of the previous classes is being surveyed in Karnataka.
He said that this survey is being done in state -wide 12,285 blocks, school teachers have been appointed as an enumerator.
“In Tumkuru district, the survey is being conducted in a total of 6,544 blocks, with 7,55,483 houses covered.”
Compared to other districts, this work is moving rapidly in Tumkuru, he said.
