New Delhi, 28 September (IANS) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday underlined the Center’s approach to abolish the leftist extremism (LWE) and urged the cadres to give up arms and embrace rehabilitation, “those who want to surrender and leave violence will be welcomed on the red carpet”.
Addressing the Valdictory session of ‘Bharat Manthan -2025: Naxal Mutt Bharat’ at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, the Home Minister described the government’s strategy in conjunction with security operations, development initiatives and political outreach.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government with a decline in violence and deadly, and reiterated a target to free India by 31 March 2026.
The Home Minister cited data to outline the profit-70 percent decrease in the deaths of security personnel and the deadly people in the affected areas declined by 85 percent during 2014-2024 as compared to 2004-2014.
He said that 10,500 Maoists have surrendered, while hundreds have been neutralized, arrested or detained in recent years. He said, “We don’t want to kill anyone,” he said, insisted on attractive and rehabilitation to the surrender policy.
He also highlighted a sharp decline in arms supply to the rebels since 2019.
Home Minister Shah implicated the fight as ideological and social, who was calling for the identity of those who provided ideological, legal and financial assistance.
He said, “Those who helped the larynx, who funded him, provided social and legally assistance – we need these Maoists to come forward,” he said, urged the society to urge the society to reject extremists, even the security forces respond strongly for armed violence.
The Home Minister added improving connectivity, governance and law enforcement in Jammu and Kashmir and Northeast.
He also noted the cancellation of Article 370 and claimed a decline in security and civil deaths in Jammu and Kashmir, pointing to high voter voting as evidence of generalization in recent elections.
