Aarartala, 26 September (IANS) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said on Thursday that the development of the autonomous Zilla Parishad (TTAAADC), the state is not possible without the development of Tripura tribal areas.
The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working with determination for the overall development of the Janajati (tribal) brothers and sisters.
He was speaking at a party ceremony and welcomed 920 voters from 230 families, who all joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party at Rabindra Shatabarashiki Bhavan.
CM Saha said that as a result of the positive and active initiative of the government, a smile is spreading among the people of the state.
920 people join BJP as a historic day, he said that people should take the right decision at the right time.
“We have noticed how the public (tribal) people were used in the name of politics, and we should work to free them from such dirty politics. When I look at the people, I see that they do not smile. But they have to smile. Earlier, no Prime Minister worked for the public,” Saha said.
He claimed that the work for the welfare of the tribals began under the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and when Narendra Modi became Prime Minister in 2014.
“PM Modi always said that we should think about the last person of the society, and we are working in this direction to provide all the benefits to the people,” Saha said.
He said that after joining 920 people, BJP’s strength will increase further. Saha also announced that it is impossible to ignore the state’s TTAAADC development as about 68 percent of the area falls under the tribal autonomous body.
BJP’s junior partner Tipra Motha Party (TMP) is controlling the 30-member politically important TTAADC, with a jurisdiction in two-thirds of the area of 10,491 sq km of Tripura, and houses of more than 12,16,000 people, of which about 84 percent are tribals.
The Chief Minister told the meeting that the state government has provided more than Rs 860 crore to TTAADC under various schemes and projects.
“We have never been denied TtaAADC before. Earlier, no one had thought of Ujjayant Mahal. But after our arrival, we have developed it to showcase the history of Tripura and its royal family. We are maintaining traditions. We feel proud that our Maharajas (kings) have worked for Tripura.
BJP state president Rajab Bhattacharya, tribal welfare minister Bikabarma, party general secretary Burma, and president of Janajati Parimal Debarma were included.
