State Tourism Minister Sushant Choundhari said on Thursday, New Delhi/Agartla, 25 September (IANS) North Eastern Region (Donor) Minister Jyotiraditya Sithra and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitarman have assured all kinds of help for the development of tourism infrastructure in Tripura.
After meeting the donor minister in Delhi, Chaudhary said that during the meeting, he urged Scindia to provide funds to develop infrastructure to promote tourism in the northeastern state.
The Tripura Minister said in a Facebook post, “Donor Minister assured all possible help to strengthen the tourism sector in Tripura.”
Chaudhary, who also holds the transport portfolio, said that he presented in detail the ongoing activities and future plans of the Tourism Department of Tripura Government to the Union Minister.
The Tripura Tourism Minister said, “I demanded their necessary support to pursue some new tourist projects with the help and financial assistance of the Ministry of Donor. Skindia assured all possible cooperation from its side for the development of tourism in Tripura.”
During the meeting, Secretary of Tourism Department Uttam Kumar Chakma and Director Prashant Badal Negi were present. In another Facebook post, Chaudhary said that he met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitarman and apprised him of the ongoing activities and future plans of Tripura Tourism Department.
“I also sought their support to pursue some new projects of the department. The Union Finance Minister assured all possible cooperation for the development of tourism in Tripura.
During this meeting, Secretary and Director of Tourism Department were present with me.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Paths revered by Hindus in Udaipur, southern Tripura on 22 September, while fulfilling a long -awaited public expectation.
A senior official of the tourism department said that the 524 -year -old Tripura Sundari Temple has been redeveloped at a cost of over Rs 54 crore, under the scheme of the Union Ministry of Tourism (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Drive) scheme.
The central government has provided Rs 34.43 crore, while the Tripura government has contributed Rs 17.61 crore to the project.
The temple built by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya, the then King of the state in 1501, is one of the 51 Shakti Peeths in the country and the Kali Temple in Kalphi in Kolkata and the third such pilgrimage center in eastern India after the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati.
