NFR delivers Nagaland for the first time cement rake, the major milestone

Officials said on Thursday that Guwahati/Dimapur, 25 September (IANS) Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) achieved an important milestone with delivery of the first rake of cement at Molvom railway station in Nagaland.

NFR Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said the rake with 41 wagons loaded with cement from a private company in Telangana was successfully unloaded on Wednesday.

He said that it makes the first rake movement for Molvom railway station, strengthening rail connectivity and infrastructure in the region.

Molvom railway station is a new railway station in Chaumukidima district of Nagaland. It is part of the line of Dhansiri (Assam) -Jubaza (in Kohima district of Nagaland), aimed at the third major railway station in Nagaland after Dimapur and Shokhuvi.

The CPRO said that NFR has continued its commitment to increase the freight facilities in the Northeast supporting economic development and durable logistics.

Reck contributed 2,624 tonnes of cement to more than 2,500 km of Melacaruvu, Telangana to Molvom railway station in Nagaland to cost-effective, environmentally friendly transport and socio-economic development of the state.

According to Sharma, 82.50 km Dimapur -Kohima railway line, which extends 2.75 km in Assam and 79.75 km in Nagaland, runs from Dhansiri to Kohima in Assam.

It features eight stations – Dhansiri, Dhansiripar, Shokhuvi, Molvom, Ferima, Piphema, Me Garjuma and Jubzalong with 27 major bridges, 149 minor bridges, 5 roads, bridges on 5 roads, 15 roads under bridges and 20 sores covering 15 roads and 31 km.

The 16.5 km Dhansiri -Shokhuvi section was commissioned with Shokhuvi to Nahargun to Nahargun in Arunachal Pradesh and Megheepathar in Meghalaya since then in October 2021. The CPRO said that Navit 14.64 km Shokhu -Molvom was commissioned in March 2025.

Indian Railways is dedicated to expanding its network in the Northeast, as the lifeline of the nation. The successful placement of this first rake in Molvom reduces carbon emissions to achieve carbon emissions by 2030, showing the continuous efforts of NFR to bring reliable rail services in remote areas, Sharma said.

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) operates in the northeastern states and seven districts of West Bengal and five districts of North Bihar.

Meanwhile, the Mizoram Capital Eisome became the fourth capital city in the Northeast, which was inaugurated by rail by rail by rail by rail by rail, besides rail by rail, in addition to Guwahati, Agartala and Itanagar, after inaugurating the ambitious 51.38-km bairibi-Sairing railway project on 13 September.

The Prime Minister also flagged off three new trains after the inauguration of the Bairabi -Serang New Railway Project. The three trains are Sirang-Anand Vihar (Delhi) Randi Express (Weekly), Kolkata-Garang-Kolkata Express (Tri-weekly) and Guwahati-Sarang-Guwahati Express (daily).
