Kolkata, September 24 (IANS) Meteorological offices will be mostly cloudy to fly lightly with thunderstorms and ugly winds at some places on Wednesday.
Although there has been a forecast of rain in Kolkata till next Saturday, there is no possibility of heavy rains for now.
There may be some improvement in the weather from Sunday.
The weather forecast has come as a relief for the people in the city, the civil department officials who are working for the war to take out the water in the Hooghly River. With the forecast of heavy rains, the situation of waterlogging in the city will improve a significant improvement by evening.
On Tuesday, the price of one month of rain in just five hours, combined with a high tide in the Hooghly River during the heaviest rainfall period, resulted in widespread waterlogging across the city.

At the same time, winds can fly at a speed of more than 45 kilometers per hour in the northern Gulf of Bengal and in the sea adjacent to the West Bengal-Odisha coast. The Met Department has stopped fishermen from going to the sea by next Saturday.
“On Thursday, a low pressure system is likely to be built over the north-west and nearby Gulf of Bengal. It may move forward and move towards the west and reach somewhere between Andhra and Odisha coasts on Friday. Due to this, medium rains in the districts of South Bengal and Kolkata will occur until Saturday.”
Meanwhile, there is no possibility of heavy rains in the districts of North Bengal for now. However, moderate rains are expected due to scattered lights in all districts of North Bengal. On Friday and Saturday, almost all the districts of North Bengal predict thunder with electricity.
