Jharkhand Tribal Land Scam: Ed raises nine places in Ranchi, Delhi

Ranchi, 23 September (IANS) Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday carried out a range of raids in Ranchi and Delhi as part of its investigation in a multi-custom scam in Ranchi and Delhi, including tribal-owned lands.

According to sources, more than six places in Ranchi and three campuses in Delhi came under the scanner of Ed Sleiths.

Several teams have been deployed to check the digital evidence related to property documents, financial records and land dealers, builders and middlemen, who are reportedly involved in the racket.

The ranchi raids covered Several Prominent Localities, Including Kanke Resort in Kanke, Sukhdev Nagar on Ratu Road, Kadru, Bariatu, and Ashok Nagar.

In Delhi, there was a discovery at places associated with influential land brokers and their colleagues.

The crack has been linked to fraud transactions in Chama Mauja under Kanke block, where tribal land was allegedly converted into “normal plots” through forged documents and later sold at heavy prices.

Investigators suspect that income from these deals was looted to project as valid income.

Under the Ed Radar, those people allegedly have land mafia Kamlesh Kumar Singh and Kanke Resort owner BK Singh, whose complex is being discovered.

The raids also expand to the persons associated with them, including property dealers and document facilities.

This is not the first time the agency has worked in the case. On July 10, 2024, an ED team visited Kanke to verify the disputed land parcel. During that exercise, investigators examined the land records under the Chatanagpur Tenancy (CNT) Act, examined the government land registers, and recorded the statements of the local residents.

Current raids are being organized under the provisions of prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The ED suspects that fake works and fabricated revenue records were used to instigate tribal lands, which led to its illegal sales and subsequent real estate and illegal benefits through other investments.
