Gandhinagar, 22 September (IANS) Gujarat’s Animal Husbandry Minister Raghavji Patel represented the state, who represents the state at a high-level virtual counseling meeting of the Livestock Minister, who was chaired by Central Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Rajiv Ranjan Singh and he attended the state minister Special Singh Bagel.
The meeting, which brought ministers from across the country together, focused on legal, policy, institutional and procedural reforms to strengthen India’s livestock and dairy sector as part of the national goal of becoming a developed country by 2047.
Department Secretary Sandeep Kumar and Director Dr. Minister Patel, who was involved by Falguni Thakkar, said that Gujarat has already aligned a road map and a “Vision Document 2047” with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It prefer to promote milk production, increase per pushu yield and expand the export of dairy products.
Patel said that the proposed reforms discussed on counseling will give Gujarat a strong foundation to achieve these goals. He outlined the importance of protecting indigenous cattle breeds, addressing antimicrobial resistance and furthering a “a health” approach to the Indian Council of Veterinary Research (ICVR), which balances human, animal and environmental health.
Patel urged the Center to introduce a Central Livestock Feed Act to harmonize nationwide standards, stating that the cost of farmers will reduce, improve product quality and promote international exports. He also recommended plans to promote technologies such as sexual semen and IVF to improve commercial poultry varieties under the National Livestock Mission and to improve breeding.
Livestock should be given equity with agriculture in areas such as income tax gains, power tariffs and access to institutional credit, Patel said that such recognition would be a “revolutionary step” to strengthen the rural economy.
He said, “The joint efforts of the Center and the states will enter a new era for the livestock, high farmers will ensure income and convert animal husbandry into development-driving industry for rural India,” he said.
