Hyderabad, September 22 (IANS) The Telangana government announced on Monday that the state -owned Singareni Colliers Company LTD (SCCL) employees would be paid Rs 819 crore as a bonus for Dussehra.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced a bonus as a ‘Dussehra’ gift for 71,000 employees, along with Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
The company will pay 34 percent of its profit, which works up to Rs 819 crore as a bonus. This is Rs 23 crore more than the bonus given last year.
This year, each of the 41,000 regular employees will get Rs 1,95,610 as a bonus, while each will be paid Rs 5,500 to 30,000 contract workers.
Last year, the government announced Rs 1.90 lakh for regular employees and Rs 5,000 for contract employees.
Deputy Chief Minister Vikramarka said that the company made a profit of Rs 6,394 crore in 2024-25. After an allocation of Rs 4,034 crore for the company’s future expansion and other investments, the net profit was Rs 2,360 crore. Out of this, 34 percent of the employees have been kept for bonus.
The second consecutive year, the state government announced a bonus for contract workers. The Chief Minister claimed that for the first time, a bonus was paid to contract workers.
He assured the workers that they would also get bonus for Deepawali.
The Chief Minister said that history can never forget the important role played by Singareni workers in achieving the state of Telangana at any time. He assured the employees that the government and the party would continue to recognize their role in the Telangana movement.
He was praising employees for efforts to make the company profitable. He said that in the recognition of the efforts of the employees, the government decided to increase its share in profits.
The Chief Minister assured the employees that the government would strengthen Singareni to enable it to compete with corporate companies.
He urged the workers to ensure that private parties have also been allotted to Singareni on lease mines.
He warned that if private participation continues to increase, there would be a question mark on Singareni’s existence in the future.
CM Revantha Reddy said that the state government will talk to the Center in this regard to resolve this issue.
