Jaipur, September 22 (IANS) Rajasthan is ready to become the first state in India to auction major mineral blocks after receiving all the necessary pre-ambed permissions, aims to accelerate mining operations, promote investment and generate employment.
The State Department of Mines and Geology has started preparations to bring major mineral blocks into the operation.
The auction process for pre-Ambeded blocks is expected to start soon, played an important role in getting necessary approval with the Rajasthan State Mineral Exploration Trust (RSMET).
Other states are also preparing to follow the suit.
Speaking on the initiative, T. Ravikant, Principal Secretary of Rajasthan of Mains and Petroleum Department, T.K. Ravikant said, “The department has already obtained necessary permission for selected major mineral blocks and is moving towards auctioning them. Currently, it takes two-and-a-half to three years to operate mines auctioned in most states.
The Union Ministry of Central Mines recently amended the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, directed the states to prioritize five mineral blocks, obtained all necessary permissions in advance, and auctioned them for rapid operation.
According to these instructions, Rajasthan has nominated RSMET as a project monitoring unit to coordinate necessary approval and facilitate smooth e auctions.
East-ambedness refers to receiving all the necessary permissions before auction of a mineral block.
These include withdrawal from the forest department, environmental withdrawal, other people and permission from the revenue department for mining on grazing land and other legal formalities.
Ravikant said that RSMET has completed geological survey, block demarcation and differential global positioning system (DGPS) mapping for pre-Ambeded blocks.
With the remaining approval, Rajasthan is on track to operate the auction soon.
Once the letter of intention is issued, the mining operation may begin immediately, promote the mineral supply chain and contribute significantly to the state’s economic growth.
