Bengaluru, 22 September (IANS) An incident is the wife of a former minister and Chikkalpur, K. Sudhakar’s current BJP MP’s wife came to light on Monday for being a victim of cyber fraud and defeat of Rs 14 lakh.
According to an official statement from the West Division Kane Police Station, cyber crime, economic crime and drugs (CEN) police acted fast, where the amount was deposited in the bank where it was deposited and its return was ensured.
The statement released on Monday said that the police team tracked the fraud transaction and returned Rs 14 lakh to the victim within a week.
Providing details of the case, police said on August 26, 44 -year -old Preeti Sudhakar, resident of Basaveshwaranagar, Bangalore, the complainant received a WhatsApp call from cyber fraudsters who presented as officials of the Mumbai Cyber Crime Unit. He claimed that illegal money was transferred to his account.
The fraudsters asked him to transfer Rs 14 lakh to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to facilitate verification, assuring him that the money would be rebuilt in his account within 15 minutes. If she failed to comply with her, she also threatened her with immediate arrest.
Believing them, Preeti transferred Rs 14 lakh from her HDFC bank account to an account in Yes Bank. However, he realized fraud and a complaint was lodged at the Sen police station on the same evening. The National Cyber Fraud Helpline (1930) was contacted, and transactions were frozen, acting immediately inside the Golden Hour. Later on September 3, the 47th Additional Metagistic Magistrate (ACMM) was agreed, and the money was rearranged into the HDFC account of the victims suffering from the Yes Bank account.
The police has started a manhint for the accused. The investigation was led by DCP West S. Girish and ACP Umrani have done.
DCP Girish on Monday appealed to the public that if they lose money for cyber fraud, time does not waste time in confusion. Instead, he urged him to immediately call the National Cyber Helpline (1930) within the Golden Hour and file a complaint at the court police station to enable Swift action and prevent financial loss.
