Jammu, 22 September: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has constituted a high-level committee to examine and finalize methods for revival of customary stone mine activities at Pantchowak Srinagar, Saderkoot Bala Bandipora and other places.
Special Secretary to the government, led by the Department of Mining, the panel includes representatives of the forest, revenue, water power, rural development, geology and mining, University of Kashmir and Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Committee.
The committee has been tasked with studying legal structure, assessing environmental implications, discovering administrative mechanisms and suggesting sustainable and community-sensitive methods for operations.
It is directed to submit a detailed report with recommendations within 30 days. (KDC)
