Polls Trinamool before 2026 to partially apply ‘one person, one verse’ within the party

Kolkata, September 21 (IANS) before the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections scheduled next year, Trinmool Congress will partially implement the “one person, a post” police under the leadership of the ground level, a party’s internal source said about development.

However, a member of the state cabinet, who did not want to name, said that this partial implementation of ‘One person, one post’ will be only at the ground level, which targets party councilors of various urban civilian bodies such as municipal corporations and municipalities.

According to the plan to occupy a councilor’s chair in any municipality under the leadership of the party, according to the plan, will not be able to occupy any organizational post in the same ward or in the same district as well, “said another senior leader of the party.

This, according to him, will be done to avoid conflict of interests between the responsibilities and assignments of an organization as an elected member of an urban citizen body. The state committee member said, “It is often seen that a person captures a councilor’s chair and in a parallel way a party is not able to fulfill either one of the two responsibilities. The changed system will be away with those complications,” said the state committee member said.

In fact, the principle of “one person, a verse” was pushed by the party’s general secretary and Lok Sabha member Abhishek Banerjee a few years ago. However, at that time, the party veterans objected and said that the same principle cannot be implemented in a blanket manner at all leadership levels.

The party’s internal sources said that the leadership has also prepared its own survey report, and based on it, the leadership now wants to strictly implement this policy in areas under urban civilian bodies such as municipal corporations and municipalities.

Recently, Abhishek Banerjee held separate meetings with each district organization leadership … new presidents have been selected in the city and the block levels of six district organizations have been selected. New faces have been given the responsibility of youth, women and workers’ organizations. The announcement was recently made on social media.
