Bengaluru, 21 September (IANS) Impressive Adichchangiri Mute Sir, Nirmalanandanth Swamiji has appealed to the Government of Karnataka not to conduct socio-economic and educational survey, which is in a hurry known as a caste census. He also warned the government against the inclusion of Hindu castes in the category of Christianity.
Speaking to the media on Saturday after a meeting of leaders of the Vokaliga community held in the backdrop of the caste census survey starting on 22 September (Monday) in Bengaluru, Sir said: “Caste census survey should be postponed. It should be held later over an extended time.
“It is wrong to club Hindu castes with Christianity. It would be better if the government withdraws the move. Currently, they have created categories like Christian-Vokliga and Christian-Brahmin. Tomorrow can be Muslim-Vokaliga or Hindu-Crisian. It will only create confusion and anarchy in society.”
“The state government has planned to complete the caste census in 15 days, of which nine of which are celebrated with Navratri festival which is celebrated with devotion. How the census will be completed in such circumstances? People will go away in their original places due to holidays. The real purpose behind the survey should not be diluted,” he said.
Sir further said: “All members of various Vokkaliga sub-computs will just have to identify themselves as Vokkaligs. They have to ensure the entry of ‘Code A1545’. We demand that caste census be postponed, and we should be hopeful of positive response from the government.”
Nanjavadhoot Swamiji also said: “We had earlier demanded a fresh caste survey. The Chief Minister has given a positive reply and started it. We have no objection in the survey. But under other religions, the construction of new categories and Hindu sub-castes under other religions is unacceptable. It is unacceptable.
The Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, who moved to social media X, said, “We have no objection to the socio-economic and academic survey. According to the Supreme Court order, survey should be conducted from time to time, and they should move forward. I am not opposing it.”
“But is it possible to survey 6.5 crore people in only 15 days? Now is the time of holy Dasara and Navratri festivals. Is Anganwadi workers, teachers, and government officials and employees who are assigned to conduct the survey, are their festivals, ceremonies and family observation? He questioned.
During this period, when the Navadurgas are worshiped, there are religious duties in women’s homes that they should perform. How is it possible to survey at such a time? Kumaraswamy asked.
Therefore, this is not the right time for survey. Postpone it or expand time. People want a real, purpose and truth survey. Otherwise, it will fulfill the same fate as the last two survey reports. Should taxpayers’ money be wasted again? How many crores should be spent? At least, expansion of three months is necessary. The survey should be held step by step. What is the problem with this? Opined kumaraswamy.
For whose satisfaction, this is being surveyed in a hurry? What is needed is an ideal survey that includes everyone and does not do injustice to any community. If mistakes are made, the people behind this survey should not avoid accountability.
