Rewa, 19 September (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Siddharth Tiwari on Friday launched a brilliant attack on veteran Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, called him ‘Maulana’ during a public event in Tonthar, Rewa.
In a targeted attack on Digvijay Singh, the BJP MLA said that during Rewa’s visit recently, Digvijay Singh talked about the ideology of the Congress.
He said, “I know Congress and Digvijay Singh well and that’s why I call him Maulana Digvijay Singh.”
Tiwari made this comment in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and several other senior BJP leaders of Reva and Satna districts, who were border with Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh, during a public event in Tanthar Assembly constituency in Rewa.
Interestingly, Siddharth Tiwari is the grandson of former Congress leader late Srinivas Tiwari, who was the assembly speaker during the Congress government led by Digvijay Singh in Madhya Pradesh between 1993 and 2003.
The BJP MLA said, “Digvijay Singh always tried to weaken my grandfather Srinivas Tiwari. Once my grandfather told me that when the Congress won the election in 1993, my grandfather was about to become a cabinet minister, but he was made an assembly speaker,” BJP MLA said.
He claimed that it was Digvijay Singh, who opposed the inclusion of Srinivas Tiwari in the cabinet.
Tiwari said, “This was done to weaken and abolish his (Srinivas Tiwari) political career.
The attack on Digvijay Singh came in Rewa two days after attending the 100th birth anniversary of East Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Srinivas Tiwari, which also participated by many Congress leaders, which included the state party’s chief Jitu Patwari and Ajay Singh.
Siddharth Tiwari, whose father late Sundarlal Tiwari was also the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, joined the BJP before the assembly elections in 2023 after refusing the Congress ticket.
He convicted Digvijay Singh and Ajay Singh for denying the ticket from the Congress.
In particular, Siddharth Tiwari held the Lok Sabha election from Rewa on a Congress ticket, but he lost the election against Janardan Mishra of BJP in 2019.
In 2023, he joined the BJP and was elected an MLA from Reva’s Tonther Assembly seat.
In 2022, when a sleeping mat had attracted the attention of the media, along with the display of Digvijay Singh from Madhya Pradesh, led by Rahul Gandhi, a sleeping mat, until the Congress was associated with the Congress, which was associated with the Congress, praised Digvijay Singh.
