New Delhi, 19 September (IANS) ordered in the Delhi Court on Friday that hearing will be held in the rape case related to former IPL chief Lalit Modi’s brother, businessman Sameer Modi.
The complainant’s counsel came to the Saket court verdict after urging him to hear a closed door, which emphasized the sensitive nature of the case.
Sameer Modi’s lawyer opposed the request, stating that the bail application is usually not heard. However, the court upheld the request, called it “appropriate” and directed that the proceedings be conducted privately in Camera.
In addition, the Saket court extended two days for Sameer Modi’s police remand, although the Delhi Police originally requested a three -day expansion.
Sameer Modi was arrested on Thursday after returning from a commercial visit to Europe at Delhi’s IGI Airport, after a look-out circular (LoC) against him. He was initially sent in a day of police custody.
After the arrest, a first information report (FIR) was filed by a woman at the new Friends Colony Police Station last week, who alleged that she was in a long -term relationship with Sameer Modi since 2019. In response, Sameer Modi’s legal team dismissed the allegations as “false and concocted”, claiming that they intended to take him out.
In a press statement, Sameer Modi’s lawyer highlighted that Modi had lodged himself a complaint on August 8 and 13, accusing the same woman of extortion and blackmail, supported by WhatsApp messages, where “he demanded an amount of Rs 50 crore”.
The statement said that the police action is said “in a hurry”: “This is a clear case of law provisions to make a arrest without verifying the facts and the misuse of acts in the hasty police.
Questioning the credibility of the complaint, it said: “A detailed observation of the alleged complaint will immediately show these claims of very serious and serious crimes for wild and disgusting stories. The allegations mention and continue the incidents that begin four years ago, which speaks themselves about the complaint and the origin of the complainants.”
“From his version of the complainant’s events, alleged meetings were in public places, restaurants, commercial office premises and residences. Nothing can be made to the complainant’s intention, but cannot be devoid of being malicious and free from any truth of any allegation,” said this.
Sameer Modi, who is included in many business cases, has been described as “as a respectable businessman (WHO) … is a full confidence in the judiciary of our country and agencies who will not only investigate, but will close the matter immediately.”
