Chandigarh, 19 September (IANS) BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Friday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for declaring the Punjab flood as a “serious disaster” and expanded Rs 590 crore in additional relief with an already already provided Rs 13,600 crore.
He said that the people of Punjab are grateful to Prime Minister Modi’s sensitive and decisive leadership in this hour of crisis.
“On the one hand, Prime Minister Modi stands with Punjab like a guardian, takes immediate steps for farmers, flood victims and public infrastructure, the disabled and novice of the other state is making excuses only on the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, running away from responsibility, and blaming the Center for covering his own failures,” he said.
The BJP leader said that the flood was not just a natural disaster, but a “man-made disaster” (blaming Chief Minister Mann).
“Bhagwant Mann and his political master Arvind Kejriwal Squarely are responsible. Delay in delays of Sutlage, surrendering in court instead of defending people’s interests, and complete failure to take preventive measures in front of the monsoon, these actions converted a seasonal challenge into a human tragedy.”
BJP leader Chugh said, “The Aam Aadmi Party and Congress are two sides of the same coin – one silent, the other destructive. People of Punjab will never forgive this betrayal.”
In the upcoming assembly session, BJP leader Chugh demanded that Maan Sarkar taunted a white paper on the floor of the House and explained what happened to the SDRF (State Disaster Response Fund) of Rs 12,000 crore sent by the Center.
He said, “Why these funds were not used for relief operations? Why was the preparation delayed? Why were hundreds of villages drowned due to negligence? Mana government should answer,” he said.
He also demanded that all sand mining tenders be brought under a CBI investigation, and its report was stated in the assembly whether the Punjab government is serving the people of Punjab or sand mafia or not.
