Srinagar, September 19 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Friday that hundreds of languages and dialects have created a harmonious society of India which is running the change and development of the country.
The LG National Institute of Technology Institute (NIT) was speaking at a national seminar on integration in Indian languages organized by Srinagar and Bharatiya Bhash Samiti.
LG said, “With peace and stability, with a sense of unity and general goals, and promoting a strong collective identity, India will achieve strong growth.”
LG Sinha said that India’s rich linguistic landscape is a source of strength.
He said that hundreds of languages and dialects have helped in building a harmonious society, which is running change and development.
“Despite diverse background, languages, dialects and ideas, a general national identity and shared consciousness unite us all. We should use the power of unity in diversity for nation-building.
“Our effort should be to ensure that Hindi continues to work as an essential bridge, connects people with different linguistic backgrounds, motivates people to learn other languages, enhances mutual cooperation and economic integration,” he said.
He said that all sections of society should also try to preserve and promote rich cultural heritage contained in all Indian languages.
LG called upon the youth to unite linguistic differences and unite the nation to convert India into Vikasat India.
“You have to build a magnificent and developed India by completely eliminating every mark of colonial mindset”, said.
He insisted that the whole world is looking towards India with hope for future prospects.
LG said, “The 21st century is the century of India. It is written in stone. Constant development and productivity will make India a major global power,” LG said.
He encouraged young students to learn new languages, to broaden attitude and run innovation.
LG appreciated NIT Srinagar for organizing several activities to establish the official language cell and promote Hindi language.
On this occasion, LG told writers, scholars and researchers for their significant contribution to promote various languages.
