Jaipur, 19 September (IANS) at a cabinet meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Office on Friday, several major decisions were taken, including the approval of Maharana Pratap Sports University Jaipur Bill, amendment of NRI quota fee structure in Rajams Medical Colleges, simplification of family pension provisions for parents and illegal children for various service rules for promotion.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Premchand Bairwa announced the approval of the draft cabinet for Maharana Pratap Sports University, Jaipur Bill, 2025. This bill is to be presented in the upcoming session of the Legislative Assembly. Originally announced in the state budget of 2024-25, the university will be established to promote sports and physical education, provide scientific training with modern equipment and to develop elite coaches and sports experts.
It will also focus on sports science, technology and performance analysis to improve athlete performance and research in the region. Equipped with world -class sports infrastructure, the university aims to be the center of alignment with the National Education Policy, which helps Rajasthan’s sports talent for international standards.
The cabinet has rationalized fees for NRI quota seats in medical colleges under Rajasthan Medical Education Society (Rajams).
Under the new policy, the NRI fee management will be 2.5 times the quota fee, which will be about Rs 23.93 lakh per year starting from 2025-26 academic session. This revised fee is aligned with average cost in private medical colleges, making Rajams institutions more competitive.
The move is expected to generate vacant NRI seats, attract talented NRI students and generate an estimated Rs 45 crore in additional annual revenue for the Rajams Society.
Currently, Rajams Medical Colleges allocated 50 percent seats under government quota, 35 percent under management quota and 15 percent under NRI quota.
The high dollar-based fee structure-earlier reaches Rs 31 lakhs annually-due to many vacant seats, which were often converted into low-fee management quota seats, resulting in revenue loss.
The Cabinet approves important amendments in Rajasthan Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1996 to improve family pension benefits: The parents of the deceased government employees will now get an increased family pension of up to 50 percent, aligning with Rule 62 (III), instead of the first 30 percent provision under Rule 62 (IV), the first 30 percent provision under 62 (IV), and even after continuing daughters.
The purpose of these changes is to provide more inclusive and kind support to the families of government employees.
The cabinet also approved several amendments for service rules to increase the development of careers and promote promotion: Rajasthan Tourism Services Rules, 1976 was revised to facilitate promotion in the new post of Senior Additional Director, which marks the fourth publicity level within the cadre.
The Rajasthan Archaeological and Museum Services Rules, 1960 was revised to include the newly created post of Joint Director (Salary Level -18).
State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel said that the cabinet also approved the allocation of land at a conditional rate for 5,200 MW solar power projects. These projects are expected to promote renewable energy production and generate local employment opportunities across the state.
He said that these cabinet decisions highlight the government’s commitment to advance the game, improve the welfare provisions for the families of employees, increase public service career and promote sustainable development through renewable energy.
