Preagraj, 19 September (IANS), Umar Ansari, son of Mafia leader Mukhtar Ansari, in a major relief, was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court on Friday in a case registered under the Gangsters Act.
He was arrested on 3 August and has been in judicial custody since then.
The case is related to the allegations that Omar Ansari refused documents to recover the assets attached under the Gangsters Act.
The police claimed that it tried to free the seized land by preparing fake documents using the fake signature of his mother Afshan Ansari.
Justice Dr. A bench of Gautam Chaudhary passed the bail order after hearing detailed arguments from both Omar’s lawyer and government lawyer.
Earlier, on 21 August, Additional District Judge (ADJ) court rejected its bail plea in Gazipur. After that, Omar Ansari transferred the High Court.
According to police, the case was registered at Mohammadabad police station in Gazipur, when the station accused Omar Ansari of using fake documents in his mother’s name to find the release of the disputed land after being charged.
The assets under consideration are located in the Sadar Kotweli area in Vallabh Devdi Das Mohalla and is attached by the District Magistrate under the Gangsters Act.
Omar Ansari was arrested on 3 August in Lucknow and was later transferred from Gazipur Jail in Kasganj to Pacchalana Jail on August 23.
During the investigation, the officials found that the documents signed the signing of Afshan Ansari did not match the original handwriting, indicating the construction. A power of attorney was also allegedly filed with a fake signature.
Meanwhile, Afshan Ansari remains absconding in the case. The police have announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information for his arrest.
The order of the High Court has now cleared the way for Omar Ansari’s release from jail, although the proceedings in the case will continue.
