Bihar Congress met an election committee in Patna; Pappu Yadav’s presence attracts attention

Patna, September 18 (IANS) Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) held a meeting of its state election committee at Sadakat Ashram in Patna on Thursday to formulate a strategy for the upcoming state assembly elections and discuss the selection of candidates.

The presence of independent MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav at the meeting attracted significant attention to political circles.

Pappu Yadav, who has been associated with the Congress for a long time, but often complained of not receiving proper respect, was seated with senior party leaders.

His formal inclusion in the policy-making process is seen as a sign that he can play a more prominent role in the party’s Bihar strategy.

Bihar Krishna Alvaru, Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Singh, BPCC President Rajesh Ram, Legislative Party leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan, former state president Madan Mohan Jha and other senior party leaders were in this meeting.

Congress MPs, MLAs, MLC, State Secretaries and heads of frontal organizations also participated.

39-The member’s election committee discussed the screening process for the candidates and underlined the initial roadmap for the upcoming state elections.

Pappu Yadav’s appearance on the Congress platform, in collaboration with the upcoming Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Patna and preparations for intensive discussion on the candidate selection indicates an active electoral push by the party.

Following the state election committee meeting, the Congress is ready to finalize the names of its first phase candidates at the screening committee meeting in Delhi on 19 September.

Sources said that the Congress High Command has directed the leaders of the state party to give priority to popularity, social equations and winners while selecting candidates.

The CWC will hold its meeting in Patna on 24 September, in which the party’s highest decision -making body is meeting in Bihar for the first time.

The meeting will be the leader of Congress President Mallikrajun Kharge, opposition Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders of the party.

According to party sources, the agenda will include “vote theft”, voter list irregularities and ongoing intensive amendment (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The CWC session is being seen as an important political step, as the Congress wants to intensify its strategy before the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar.
