Officials said Itanagar, 18 September (IANS) Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi on Thursday called the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lieutenant General KT Pernic (Ratad) at Raj Bhavan here and discussed security, frontier highway and developmental projects in the state, said the officials said.
A Raj Bhavan officer said that the Governor underlined the importance of a colleague and people-focused approach in implementing the vibrant village program, showing that its success depends on the joint efforts of the government, local communities and security forces.
He appreciated the cooperation being expanded by the army to play an active role, given that his strong presence, discipline and close relationship with the border residents could contribute significantly in converting remote villages to the centers of development, opportunities and national pride.
The official said that the Governor appreciated his deep sentiment of appreciation for the army units serving in Arunachal Pradesh, the officer said.
Lieutenant General Pernic (Rtiad) highlighted the meaningful contribution of the army beyond security duties, providing pre-reproach training that prepares local youth for careers in the armed forces, which supports support for entry into sanik schools, and implements several goodwill projects. He said that these initiatives are nurturing discipline and self -sufficiency among the younger generation and also bringing tangible benefits to the local communities, which are strengthening the bond between the people and the army.
The governor appreciated the army units for his unwavering professionalism, high standards of operational preparations and extraordinary allen. He appreciated his dedication for his military duties and continuously standing through human initiative and developmental support by the people of the state.
The Raj Bhawan officer said that the Army Chief discussed the issue of land acquisition with the Governor, emphasizing the need to expedite the process to proceed without delayed the necessary defense infrastructure projects.
General Dwivedi also discussed the importance of establishing District Sainik Boards in the state, which will serve as important support systems for ex -servicemen and their families.
He shared his concern with the Governor about the relatively low participation of the youth of Arunachal Pradesh in applying for vacancies in the armed forces. The Raj Bhavan officer said that he requested more awareness, guidance and encouragement to motivate more youth of the state to carry forward this great and prestigious career route.
