Medications worth over Rs 143 crore seized in Mizoram and Manipur; 3 conducted

Officials said on Thursday that Aizawl/Imphal, September 18 (IANS) In a major race, security forces have seized drugs worth more than Rs 143 crore and arrested three persons in Mizoram and Manipur in the last 24 hours.

A defense spokesperson said that on the basis of specific intelligence, a search operation was carried out on Wednesday night near Zote village in Champhai district of Mizoram, in a major strike against Narco-Traficing, cross-limiting of Assam Rifles, which shares an unfit border with Myanmar.

During the operation, the soldiers interrupted a suspect to carry a consignment. On challenging, the person left the load and took advantage of the area and fled into the nearby forest. The spokesperson said in another operation, Assam Rifles seized 12 grams of heroin worth about Rs 8.4 lakh in Zambavak in Eizol district of Mizoram on Wednesday night.

While working on specific intelligence about drug trafficking, a joint operation of Assam Rifles with the Territorial Army, Eisawal was launched in the zambavak regions and during the operation, a suspected drug pedal was intercepted and discovered.

During the discovery of the person, 12 grams of heroin was recovered from him. The arrested person was identified as Lalchuchuanamavia (25), a resident of Jota in Champai district.

Along with seized intoxicants, with an infiltrated person, the department of producers and narcotics, isol, is handed over to further investigation. Assam Rifle’s statement said that this successful operation underlines the unwavering resolution of Assam Rifles to combat the narco-network with the Indo-Myanmar border.

In Manipur, security forces arrested two suspected drug smugglers and recovered brown sugar and metamphine bullets, priced at around Rs 40 crore.

A police officer in Imphal said that during two separate operations carried out during the last 24 hours, drugs and arrests were seized on the border of Myanmar.

In the first operation, security forces intercepted a van in the Naka check post in the Tenganapal Police Station area.

The driver, MD Nusad (21), resident of Kaking district was arrested. About 50 packets of Mathemfetamine Tablet were seized from 10.8 kg, van, and a mobile phone from them.

The estimated value of drugs is more than Rs 30 crore. Subsequently, security forces intercepted another van in the same checkpost.

Henggin Hawkip (23), a resident of Kangpokpi district, was arrested. There were 11 soap cases seized from him, which had 125 grams of brown sugar, vehicle and a mobile phone. The estimated value of drugs is more than Rs 10 crore.

Meanwhile, Assam rifles seized heroin worth about Rs 20.10 crore in Mizoram.

According to a defense spokesperson, working on specific intelligence about drug trafficking, an operation was started in Thingaluang Kai in Melbuk Road area in Champi district of Mizoram on Tuesday night and had seized 2.462 kg of heroin which was Rs 20.10 crore.

The latest seizure of drugs was the biggest race of narcotics after the Mizoram government on 1 September, launched a four -month special campaign to curb drugs and their danger illegal trade and anti -drug operations.

Different types of drugs, especially excessive intoxicating Mentalmine Tablet and heroin and a variety of controls, including foreign animals, are often illegally traded through six districts in Mizoram – Champhai, Siaha, Longtalai, Hanthial, Satual and Serrship. These six districts share untouchable boundaries of 510 km with Myanmar. From Mizoram, these drugs in other parts of the country and abroad, including Assam and Tripura including Bangladesh.
