Bengaluru, 18 September (IANS) A teenager said in her complaint against a yoga instructor that she sexually assaulted her when she went to Thailand in 2023 to participate in a yoga competition.
Police said that the accused, who is from Assam, is the Secretary of the Karnataka Yogasan Sports Association (KYSA).
According to the police complaint, “The victim had to go to the accused from 2019. She started participating in yoga competitions in 2021. The girl was 17 years old, when she was 17 years old, she went to Thailand with the accused to participate in a competition, and the accused sexually assaulted her. After the incident, the victim stopped participating in yoga competitions.”
“In 2024, the victim joined a yoga institute in Bengaluru, run by the accused. The accused has been sexually harassing him. The accused also promised that he would help him win a medal in a national yoga competition and help him to work. Then he sexually abused him in the premises of Yoga Institute in August 2025.”
The accused also tried to be physically intimate with him on 22 August, stating that he would receive a placement in the state level competition.
Police has booked an FIR under the relevant sections of the BNS Act and Section 12 of the POCSO Act.
The victim had filed a police complaint on 30 August.
Police investigation revealed that yoga instructors were also involved in the rape of 10 to 15 women, who participated in classrooms at their yoga center.
The police have seized her mobile phone and urging other victims to come forward and file a complaint.
According to police sources, a video related to the crime was also recovered, and more women are expected to file a complaint against him.
Further investigation is going on.
