New Delhi, 17 September (IANS) LD. Special Judge, CBI Court, Ghaziabad on Wednesday issued an order for the linking of two properties of Senior Passport Superintendent, then posted at the Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Ghaziabad, Ghaziabad in an uneven property case.
The accused senior passport superintendent is named Deepak Chandra and has now been posted in RPO, Mumbai.
According to the CBI, it registered a case against the said accused on 24 March this year. It was alleged that the accused public servant was Rs. 85,06,900 (146.43 percent) IE from July 30, 2018, September 30, 2024 during the check period.
The agency said in its press statement on Wednesday, “During the investigation, a discovery was made on a residential basis of the accused during a discovery, which led to a recovery of about 60 lakh rupees, details of investment in immovable properties as well as various expenses of high magnitude.”
“Investigation also revealed that the accused public servant had invested two immovable property during the check period, ie a residential flat in Raj Nagar Extension, a commercial shop in Ghaziabad and Greater Noida West, Gautam Buddha Nagar, beyond his known sources of income, said.
On the CBI application, the court issued an advertising order for the attachment of the above assets.
Folk servants are entrusted with the responsibility of serving the nation and its people, but cases like senior passport Superintendent Deepak Chandra highlight how some misuse their positions for some personal gain.
Corruption not only eradicates the public trust, but also creates unnecessary obstacles for common citizens who depend on these officers for essential services.
By collecting inconsistent assets and involving illegal promotion, such officials cheat their duties.
The CBI court’s decision to attach its properties send a strong message that the misuse of power will not be tolerated, strengthening accountability and integrity in public service.
