Kolkata Cop accused girl students of attacking in viral video, demanding OPNN action

Kolkata: A police officer has been accused of physically attacking a female students of a high school high school in the northern outskirts of Kolkata, who increases widespread resentment and strongly criticize the opposition.

The incident came to light after a video of an alleged attack on social media went viral on Wednesday.

The objectionable officer was identified as Inspector Jonaki Bagchi of Rajrat Police Station, which comes under the police jurisdiction of Bidhanagar city.

The video, which came out on Wednesday morning, allegedly enters the premises of Rajarhat Annakali Girls High School to the officer and physically attacks students.

The Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Suvendu Adikari shared the video on his official social media handle. He claimed that the police officer was seen “touching and even female students punching” in an attempt to suppress their protest.

According to the official, the students were protesting against the prolonged absence of their Bengali teacher, who had not allegedly not school for eight months. The opposition leader accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s administration of “completely ruining” the state’s education system.

“In the state, more than eight thousand government schools have been discontinued, and the condition of those still working is so poor that students from medium and lower-middle category families are being forced to spend from their own pockets to study in private schools.”

The Leader of the Opposition claimed that he was closely monitoring the developments, especially whether the police would take action against Bagchi, who, despite being a male officer, entered a girl’s school and conducted a physical attack on the students.

Meanwhile, a senior state BJP leader said that the party would take the issue in a major way until the state government initiated disciplinary action against the objectionable police, including legal steps, and will also attract the attention of the National Commission for Women.

With the embarrassment of the video that went viral, senior officials of Bidhanagar police station refused to comment, and the leaders of the ruling Trinmool Congress also remained silent.
