Bandipora, 23 August: Former minister and former minister Bandipora, Usman Majid has expressed deep concern over heavy hailstorms, which have killed several villages in Bandipora, including Mantalgam, Pazalpora and Kralpora, which caused widespread damage to the orchards of crops and fruits.
In a statement released here, Majid said that sudden hailstorm has left farmers and gardens in crisis, as their standing crops and yield have suffered heavy losses. He urged the district administration Bandipora to immediately depute a special assessment team in the affected villages to evaluate the scale of damage and take fast measures for relief and compensation.
Majid insisted that agriculture and horticulture remain the backbone of Bandipora’s economy, and any natural disaster directly affects the livelihood of hundreds of families. He emphasized the need for timely support so that the affected farmers do not suffer irreparable losses.
Expanding solidarity with the farmers, Majid appealed to the concerned authorities to ensure that in these difficult times, adequate relief is provided to protect the interests of the agricultural community, and necessary steps are taken.
