“Type 2 enabling screening for diabetes risk, including blood biomarkers through the smartphone app, is something that has never been done before,” said POCDOC CEO Steve Rost.

“This approach does not only improve the patient’s access; it helps reduce pressure on frontline services and supports more durable, digitally capable NHS.”

The new service uses HBA1C biomarckers, which measures average blood sugar levels in the last two to three months.

For testing, the patients provide a finger-graceful blood sample placed on the patent examiner of POCDOC, which is known as microfluidic assay. The patient then scans the test using the POCDOC app and, unlike a process, receives his results almost immediately, which can currently take weeks or months.

Mr. Rost stated that the app enables the first detection and prevention, and pursues testing and diagnosis in the community and home settings, which aligns with the objectives of the 10 -year plan of the Health Secretary Wes Streeting for NHS.
