Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Japan and China from August 29 to September 1, said the Ministry of External Affairs (Mea).
At the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba, Modi will visit Japan from 29-30 August to attend the 15th India-Japan annual summit. This will be Modi’s eighth visit to Japan and his first summit with Ishiba, Mea said.
During the journey, the two leaders will review the special strategic and global partnership between India and Japan, covering defense and safety, trade and economy, technology and innovation, and people’s exchange from people. They will also discuss issues of regional and global importance. Mea said that this journey is expected to confirm the long -term bond of friendship between the two countries.
In the second phase of his visit, on the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Modi will visit China from 31 August to 1 September, who will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin. On the occasion of the summit, the Prime Minister is expected to hold bilateral meetings with several leaders attending the summit.
India has been a member of the SCO since 2017 and organized the President of the organization’s chief Rajya Parishad during 2022-23, Mea said.
In the continuity of the ongoing engagement, early this week, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and gave an invitation to the SCO summit in Tianjin, China from a message and President Xi Jinping.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi paid the official visit to India from 18 to 19 August.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Wang Yi, a member of the Communist Party Polit Bureau and the Foreign Minister of China.
“Mr. Wang Yi gave a message to the Prime Minister for the SCO Summit being held at Tianjin and an invitation to President Xi. He also shared his positive evaluation of bilateral meeting with Eam Dr. S. Jaishankar and 24th meeting of special representatives, which he co-headed with NSA Ajit Dawal during his visit.”
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and peace on the border, and reiterated India’s commitment to a fair, appropriate and mutually acceptable resolution.
The Prime Minister thanked President Xi and approved him for the invitation of the SCO Summit.
He supported the SCO summit for the presidency of China’s President and said he was eager to meet President Xi in Tianjin.
