Web Desk, 22/08/2025

Today, while addressing the Friday congregation in Jama Masjid Srinagar, Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr. Maulvi Muhammad Omar Farooq expressed deep concern over the rotten meat scam, which shook the trust of the people and created widespread concern for more than the last two weeks.

In a statement issued here, Mirwaiz said that despite the assurance in the media about the intensive investigation of this serious case, not much is known about its follow -up – which people are behind it, how long is it going on, is there any arrest? To remove the anxiety and anxiety of the people in relation to this case, it all needs to be inserted into the public domain.

Mirwaiz said that it is once done that it is necessary that such incidents should be placed a foolish mechanism at any time. He said, “There should be no generosity with those involved in this heinous act that enhances people’s health and remains at serious risk,” they insisted.

He insisted that Kashmir needs its own regulated slaughterhouses where proper hygiene, Islamic guidelines and food security measures are strictly seen. Both the government and the commercial community should be ready to establish these facilities, as people cannot rely on what comes from outside without investigation.

Mirwaiz further said that in its meeting yesterday, Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulama (MMU) has included jurists from all schools of idea to discuss the issue. He said that MMU already has a halal certification board, which will now be extended and strengthened to ensure compliance with Islamic standards.

“MMU is fully keen to cooperate with the government in this matter to preserve the Islamic character of Halal food and protect our people’s health and trust,” Mirwaiz repeated.
