Srinagar, Aug 22: Rashmita Sahu of Odisha scripted history by winning a gold medal at the women’s 200 meter canoe sprint at Khelo India Water Sports Festival held at Dal Lake, Srinagar.
The 23-year-old athlete, who has crossed individual tragedies, including the loss of his parents, has become one of the most promising canoists in India. Supported by the Sports Authority of India’s training program, he has won medals in the first National Games and now works with Odisha Police.
Rashmita is currently preparing for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, with high expectations to represent India on the international stage.
