Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha was postponed; Parliament passes 15 bills in the monsoon session

Parliament passed 15 bills during the monsoon session, which saw a continuous protests from opposition members over the demand for debate on the special intensive amendment (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar, in which several legislation passed without debate.

The Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were postponed a day before the end of the monsoon session, which began on 21 July. In this session, 21 meetings were seen spreading in 32 days.

In addition to the bills passed the bill, the session saw a terrible debate over Operation Sindoor. A discussion on the mission of astronaut Subhanshu Shulaka and the role of the space program for ‘Wikit Bharat’ could not be completed due to disintegration on their demands related to Sir.

During the session, 14 bills were introduced in the Lok Sabha. The Lok Sabha passed twelve bills and 15 bills were passed by the Rajya Sabha and a total of 15 bills were passed by both houses of Parliament, which were received for a release.

In response to a terrorist attack in Pahgam, a special discussion on India’s strong, successful and decisive ‘Operation Sindoor’ was held in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to the debate in the Lok Sabha. The discussion lasted 18 hours 41 minutes in Lok Sabha and 16 hours 25 minutes in Rajya Sabha.

Both houses approved a statutory proposal for the President’s rule and expansion of the state budget in Manipur.

A new income tax bill was passed by two houses. In the budget session in July 2024, the government announced that the time limit of the Income Tax Act, 1961 would be extensively reviewed. The Income Tax Bill, 2025 was introduced in the Lok Sabha and referred to the selection committee for the examination. The report was presented in the Lok Sabha on 21 July and almost all the recommendations of the selection committee were accepted by the government. The Income Tax Bill, 2025 and Income Tax (No. 2) was decided by the government to withdraw the bill, 2025 was introduced and passed by the Lok Sabha on 11 August and returned by the Rajya Sabha a day later.

The National Sports Government Bill, 2025 was also passed. The bill wants to provide for the development and promotion of sports and welfare measures for players.

Online gaming bill, promotion and regulation of 2025 were passed on Friday. Bill attempts to promote and regulate online gaming sectors including e-sports, educational games and social gaming and provides for the appointment of an authority for coordinated policy assistance.

Five Bills of Ministry of Port, Ministry of Shipping and Waterways – The Bill of Lading Bill, 2025; Marine Bill, carriage of goods by 2025; Coastal shipping bill, 2025; Merchant Shipping Bill, 2025 and Indian Ports Bill, 2025 were passed by both houses of Parliament during the session.

Two Bills – Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill, 2025; And the public belief (amendment in provisions) Bill, 2025 was introduced to ease of doing business in the Lok Sabha and to facilitate the ease of living life.

Three Bills – Constitution (one hundred and thirty -thirty amendments) Bill, 2025; Government (Amendment) Bill, 2025; And the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, 2025 was introduced in the Lok Sabha and mentioned a joint committee of both houses.

The Constitution Amendment Bill wants to provide a minister or a minister in the Council of Ministers and a minister in the Council of State and is facing serious criminal allegations, punishable with imprisonment for a term that may extend for 5 years or more and can be detained for more than 30 days.

Special discussion on India’s first astronaut at the International Space Station – The important role of the space program for ‘Vikasit Bharat’ by 2047 was also launched in the Lok Sabha on August 18, but due to the continuous disruption in the House, the discussion could not be completed.

Both houses saw continuous disruption throughout the session and the Lok Sabha productivity was around 31 % and the Rajya Sabha about 33 %. The Lok Sabha can be discussed for only 37 hours out of the total 120 hours available during this session. (Annie
