Several European leaders will be with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelansky, when they meet US President Donald Trump in Washington on Monday.
According to CNN, leaders from France, Germany, UK, Italy and Finland are expected to attend the meeting. European Commission Chairman Ursula von Der Leyen and NATO General Secretary Mark Rute will also be part of the delegation.
CNN reported that élysee Palace stated that French President Emmanuel Macron “would continue the work of coordination between European and the United States, which is aimed at achieving a justified and permanent peace, which preserves the vital interests of Ukraine and the safety of Europe,” CNN said.
The office of German Chancellor Frederick Merz said that he would discuss the situation of peace efforts in Ukraine with other attendees and highlight Germany’s interest in a rapid peace agreement.
The British Prime Minister Kir Stmper praised Zelanceci’s “wishes for a justified and permanent peace” and said he would visit Washington for the meeting.
According to Trump’s top envoy Steve Witcoff, Russian President Vladimir Putin allegedly agreed to give the US security guarantee for Ukraine and to allow concessions on “Bhoomi Swap” during his summit with Trump, as stated by CNN. However, Russia has not yet mentioned such agreements, which appear contrary to Putin’s previous statements.
The White House meeting will be divided into two sessions, the people familiar with the plan told CNN. Trump and Zelansky are expected to individually meet their delegation before joining a large group session and potentially with European leaders before joining lunch.
Negotiations are expected to focus on the figure of Russia’s demands and safety guarantee for Ukraine on Russia’s land concessions, including the role of America.
Witcoff told CNN that he believes that Trump is close to holding a three-way meeting with Russia and Ukraine presidents. (AI)
