PCB announced a 17-member squad for the Tri-Series, Asia Cup; To lead Salman Agha; Babur, Rizwan Gir

Salman Aga has been nominated for the upcoming T20I Tri-Series and Asia Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates from 29 August to 28 September and Pakistan’s captain for the Asia Cup, as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a 17-member squad on Sunday.

Pakistan batsman Babar Azam and wicketkeeper/batter Mohammad Rizwan have been removed from the side for both series. Azam, despite being the second largest run scorer in the shortest format, has not been found in the team.

After the West Indies Odis, where the previous captain scored only 56 runs in three matches, with a high score of 47, Babur was released.

The left -arm opener Fakhar Zaman, who faced a hamstring injury during the T20I series against the West Indies, has been nominated in the squad. After being the highest run scorer against the West Indies in the recently concluded T20 series, Sam Ayub has also got a place in the team.

All -rounder Hasan Nawaz has been rewarded for 112 in three matches against the West Indies, as he has also been included in the squad. Pesar Nasim Shah has fallen from the edge, despite the highest wicket -taker in the West Indies series.

Shaheen Shah will lead the speed attack with Afridi Haris Rauf, Mohammad Wasim JNR and Salman Mirza. Abrar will lead the spin attack with Ahmed Mohammad Nawaz, Sufyan Makim and Khushdil Shah.

The three-series of Afghanistan, Pakistan and UAE will be played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium from 29 August to 7 September.

The eight-Team ACC Asia Cup T20I tournament will be staged in Abu Dhabi and Dubai from 9 to 28 September. Pakistan is placed in group ‘A’ along with India, Oman and UAE.
